Our magic bullet, after only 1 week, has broken! I was so devastated. The newer model has had a bunch of problems I guess, and I have become victim to its problems. We were just about to leave for Boise on Friday when it broke. I was so upset that I made Parker go to our friends apartment to blend it up for me!
Thank GOODNESS for Bed Bath and Beyond's amazing return policy. We brought it back without a problem. However, I'm the one with the problem. I was so smoothie starved that I made Parker come down to Idaho Falls with me to do an exchange so I could get another smoothie maker. Here it is folks...drumroll please....
NINJA!!!!!!!!!!
It is sooo much better than the magic bullet! It was only 15 bucks more too. The ninja is definitely my new baby.
So of course I have had 2 smoothies today. I did major homework, worked 4 hours, and even found time to go on a run. It has been a wonderful productive day :)
I absolutely love being an aunty. My neices and nephews are adorable.
Aria Rose, and Emerson David Syphus were born April 4 at 4:11pm. I am so happy I got to go to Boise to be there with them and their mommy Meredith the day after they were born. Meredith is my sister-in-law, and she is amazing. She has a 9.5 month old, Keston, and now these two precious gems! I now have eight neices and nephews!
Speaking of road trippin, I have to show you my new love in life.
Yum! The perfect snack! Bell peppers and hummus. If you've never tried it before, you just have to! It is so yummy, filling and has very low calories :) I would have shared with Aubrionna, but she was throwing up her poor little guts. You can read all about it on her cute blog :)
General Conference was the biggest blessing of the weekend. As a Mormon, I believe the church has been restored to the earth. I believe that there is a Prophet and his Apostles on the earth today! They are messengers of our Heavenly Father. They speak to us semi-annually in April and October in four. two hour sessions.
Here are some important insights and inspiration I gained from this conference that can hopefully bless your life.
I can make choices, good or bad, but I cannot choose the consequences.
Through prayer I receive God's will for my life.
Eternity is husband and wife.
Every decision both temporal and spiritual is made with the Savior in mind.
Good habits lead to bountiful blessings.
The Lord requires my heart, and a willing mind.
The greatest test of this life is obedience.
Think of all of the imperfection Heavenly Father deals with...be patient with imperfection!
You can read or watch General Conference at www.lds.org, and find out more about Mormons, what we believe, and even chat with online missionaries at www.mormon.org.
Last but not least, I am super excited to tell you that I have officially exercised for 1 week :) In the process of eating healthy (but not TOO healthy), drinking lots of blueberry smoothies, and exercising, I lost 2.4 pounds last week!
I also started this week off right by running for 30 minutes this morning at my school's indoor track. :)
I know it was shady, but it had to be done. Today he walked all around Rexburg with me! It was a gorgeous day AGAIN too!
As the skies darkened this evening, we were still out and about walking home from this lovely group of people. We watch Psych every Wednesday night.
After the show we were walking home when BAM! I got hit int he leg suuuuuper hard! And the culprits were driving away with the barrel of their bb gun hanging out the window.
On a much happier note, I was super healthy today :) Lots and lots of walking, smoothies, salads, herbal tea, and grilled shrimp and bell peppers. Sorry for the short blog post I am still pretty irritated about the bb gun. What a day!
Everything in my life revolves around food. Everything. And I love it. But my husband loves it more...not sure what Parker is going to do with all this healthy food, actually, haha. I am going to have to make him unhealthy alternatives.
For instance...
This morning I made this absolutely delici-o-so blueberry smoothie. It was so yummy and filling and it only contained a whole whopping 223 calories! And now I am going to share this lovely recipe with all of you gorgeous people, because recipes are for sharing! I mean, they are for me at least. I have never been one to keep recipes a "family secret" or what not. However, I can understand why some people do. For instance, Rene Zellwiger's Minnesotan friend in the movie "New In Town" keeps her tapioca recipe a secret sworn to secrecy under an oath. Considering the fact she received $250,000 royalties for her pudding perfection I sure as heck don't blame her!
The fact of the matter is I can't keep a dang thing secret if it has to do with me. I have just always been a super open book. It comes with the negative judgement of others from time to time, but for the most part it has made me a pretty happy kid.
Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie
Ingredients:Ice
3/4 cup Blueberries
1/2 Banana
1/2 cup Almond Milk (For the Parker version use regular milk you will need vanilla extract and more sugar)
4 oz Plain Greek Yogurt (Vanilla flavor would probably also be delicious)
Optional for my sweet tooth: 1 packet of Truvia Sweetner for no carbs, cals, or sugar//or for my husband, pour Cane Sugar to taste
Stick all of these things in a blender, for the Syphus Family, preferably the Magic Bullet! We love the magic bullet- especially the convenient lids and straws that pop right onto the cup that blends the smoothie!
Speaking of campus, I have been quite inspired today. I mean check out this quote that was at the foot of all the staircases...
So last night's tamales were AHHHHMAAAZING! So spicy and delicious. Here's how they turned out!
Delicious! But I ate way hay hay too many......
Of course, since I know you were wondering, I didn't forget to exercise today. Now why, you are probably also wondering, would I think of running inside on such a GORGEOUS DAY???? Well the truth is......I was SO close to not doing a thing today. I even woke up early and everything but I was so unmotivated...the clock hit night time when I realized I had to live up to all my blog readers expectations. Which is probably like 3 people and my imaginary cat. But still, you 3 people and my cat motivated me to go. I just had to bring my husband to make sure I really ran. 30 minutes and it felt oh so good :) Thanks for motivating me, guys!
I married my sweet eternal companion Parker in the Boise, Idaho LDS Temple on December, 29th, 2012! We attend Brigham Young University-Idaho, and we are both Marriage and Family Studies majors. Parker would like to be a seminary teacher, or a marriage and family researcher when he graduates. I hope to be a stay at home mommy someday! We live in an apartment off campus- it is entirely covered in zebra and the color red. We are obsessed with food, friends, and fun.
Today is day 1 of my 2013 get fit adventure :) I decided to call my blog Fit Zebras because getting fit is super cool and I love zebras! Last year with my best friend Jordan, I lost 40 pounds. After being inspired by Taralynn McNitt who I found on the amazing world Pinterest, of I thought it would be fun if I blogged about my weight loss this year now!
I honestly don't have a problem with my weight right now. I am just interested in working out and eating healthy consistently, seeing where it takes me, and sharing it with the world wide interwebs. I just thought with 12 credits, 20 hours of work per week, and all my wifey responsibilities it would be fun to do a blog. One of my married friends Aubrionna blogs, and I love it.
SO...
To kick start my health craze I made a trip down to Idaho Falls to go grocery shopping at Fred Meyer! I filled our pantry with fruits vegetables, organic yummies, and greek yogurt. I also splurged on some wedding gift card money, and bought a magic bullet. I made this little protein blasted beauty with it this afternoon. I love this thing. It came fully equipped with these cute lids and straws so I can make a smoothie and go go go!
For exercise today I took an hour walk. It was BEAUTIFUL outside which is very uncharacteristic of Rexburg, Idaho. I walked from our apartment to school to pick up Parker first. We went to the park and went on the swings and then took the long way home.
Tonight for Family Home Evening our really good friends Jake and Amanda and their 8 month old son are coming over to eat homemade tamales! We made them yesterday and they have been siting in our roaster. I am seriously drooling.
Also, today is me and Parker's 1 year anniversary of being together! I know, its adorable. The picture on the top right is of when we were dating long distance. We started dating the very last week of the semester last year, then he went home to Boise and I went home to Arizona for work. We got really acquainted with our friend Skype.
